چکیده

Archaeoentomology is the study of insects and other arthropods recovered from an archaeological site; they can be found in association with ancient human animal remains, food, artefacts or related to environment its changes throughout time. Within archaeoentomology, branch “funerary archeoentomology” considers especially remains funerary burial contexts. The presence location certain insect species closely associated nearby valuable gathering information about ecological situation at time that occurred up until discovery body. Funerary archaeoentomology investigations have been carried out globally, primarily countries like Italy, Peru, United Kingdom France. Similarly forensic entomology contexts, abundance diversity are affected by type burial, macro micro-environment surrounding items cadaver, post-mortem practices, has elapsed body deposition excavation. While remain two well-distinguished disciplines, sampling practice, identification process, analyses ecology studies follow best practices general guidelines entomology. In both correct key providing information. Various methods proven effective for identification, i.e., morphological, molecular chemical analysis. This review aims collect current knowledge discuss strengths weaknesses context, describe groups most relevant worldwide. Furthermore, recommendations will provided advance examinations.

How microbial ancient DNA, found in association with human remains, can be interpreted.

The analysis of the DNA of ancient micro-organisms in archaeological and palaeontological human remains can contribute to the understanding of issues as different as the spreading of a new disease, a mummification process or the effect of diets on historical human populations. The quest for this type of DNA, however, can represent a particularly demanding task. This is mainly due to the abundan...

'Back to the future': how archaeological remains can describe salmon adaptation to climate change.

A strategy for species to survive climate change will be to change adaptively their way of life. Understanding rapid adaptation to climate change is therefore a priority for current research. In this issue, Turrero et al. (2012) use an original approach to unravel life history trait responses to climate change in two fish species (Salmo trutta and S. salar). Going against the flow, the authors ...

Parasite remains in archaeological sites.

Organic remains can be found in many different environments. They are the most significant source for paleoparasitological studies as well as for other paleoecological reconstruction. Preserved paleoparasitological remains are found from the driest to the moistest conditions. They help us to understand past and present diseases and therefore contribute to understanding the evolution of present ...

Studies on protozoa in ancient remains - A Review

Paleoparasitological research has made important contributions to the understanding of parasite evolution and ecology. Although parasitic protozoa exhibit a worldwide distribution, recovering these organisms from an archaeological context is still exceptional and relies on the availability and distribution of evidence, the ecology of infectious diseases and adequate detection techniques. Here, ...
